Cullen Home
The Cullen Home is a modern house in Portland's Willamette Heights neighborhood, used for both interiors and exteriors. It appears only in the first film. Despite the long wooded driveway the story implies, it sits in a well-kept residential area near Forest Park. This is where Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) brings Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) to meet his family for the first time, and the large windows give the house its glassy, remote feel on screen. It is a residence, so look from a respectful distance.
Forks High School in Portland
Leodis V. McDaniel High School, formerly Madison High School, stands in for Forks High School. Most of Bella's first days play out here: the awkward science class where Edward reacts strangely to her, and his later apology at the microscope, where he calls out prophase mitosis. Lunch is here too, with Jessica Stanley (Anna Kendrick) explaining the Cullen family while Edward listens from across the room. It is a working school, so expect to see it from outside.
Forks High School gym in Kalama
Another school doubles for Forks High. Kalama Middle/High School in Kalama, Washington, serves grades 6 through 12 and shares a campus with the elementary school. Here Bella reluctantly plays volleyball in gym class, doing her best to dodge the ball. Anna Kendrick, Michael Welch and Robert Pattinson are in the scene too.
Swan House
The Twilight Swan House is a 1930s home in St. Helens, Oregon, used inside and out as the home of Bella and her father Charlie (Billy Burke). It sits in a quiet neighborhood within walking distance of the historic riverfront, and the guide-worthy detail is the night scene: Bella and Edward talk through a sleepless night, trading more about themselves. Many features from the film are still intact, but check what is open to visitors before you go.
The Meadow
The Meadow was shot on the Wilson & Harding Golf Courses in Griffith Park, Los Angeles. The Harding Course opened in 1923 and the Wilson Course in 1927. The scene is a quiet meadow moment between Edward and Bella as their feelings deepen. The spot lies in the middle of a golf course, so reaching it means booking a round or arranging access some other way.
The Shire
The Shire is the fan name for an open field near Washougal, Washington, on Fir Point, a small rocky peninsula on the Columbia River across from Multnomah Falls. It is where the Cullens play vampire baseball. Emmett Cullen (Kellan Lutz) leaps off a tree to catch a ball hit by Jasper Hale (Jackson Rathbone). Historically the area was a ceremonial place for local Native American tribes, where mothers held an "Uncradling" ritual in spring. It is private property and not easy to reach.
Forks Woodlands
Oxbow Regional Park near Gresham, Oregon, covers 405 hectares (1,000 acres) along the Sandy River, with old-growth forest, hiking trails, kayaking, swimming and camping. In the film Edward leads Bella deep into the woods to explain what he is and asks her to say the truth out loud. It is a public park, so you can walk the forest trails yourself.
La Push Beach
La Push Beach was filmed at Indian Beach in Ecola State Park, about 90 minutes west of Portland near Cannon Beach, Oregon. Bella and her new friends gather here before exploring the shore, with Taylor Lautner also on the scene. Expect rugged cliffs and views toward Haystack Rock. The park charges a $5 day-use fee.
Forks High prom at The View Point Inn
The View Point Inn stood along the Columbia River Gorge and hosted the Forks High prom. Bella and Edward dance, and she pleads with him to turn her into a vampire. A fire severely damaged the inn in July 2011 and it closed permanently, so this one is for fans who want the history rather than a visit.
Forks High prom in Pasadena
A second prom location came after most filming wrapped in Oregon. This Pasadena residence is a private home with classic Southern California architecture. Here Bella waits outside prom while Edward parks the car, and Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner) walks out of the trees with a message from his father. Treat it as a drive-by only.
Mimi's Dance Studio
Mimi's Dance Studio is the Yale Union Building in Portland's Buckman neighborhood, east of the Willamette River. Bella arrives after James tricks her into thinking her mother Renée is in danger, which sets up the climactic confrontation. The building is well preserved and sits among bars, restaurants and coffee shops.
Forks Hospital
Forks Hospital is Vibra Specialty Hospital in Portland, a long-term critical care facility. After the van nearly crushes Bella in the school lot, Edward visits her bedside and she asks how he saved her. She also watches him talk with Carlisle (Peter Facinelli) and Esme Cullen (Elizabeth Reaser) about using his speed in public. It is an active hospital, so stay outside.
Field Trip Green House
Clackamas Community College in Oregon City provided the greenhouse for the class field trip. Bella and Edward trade biting remarks about the car incident and her family in Florida while hiding their attraction. The campus has lush grounds and has served the Portland area for over 50 years.
The Grisham Mill
The Grisham Mill is the former Blue Heron Paper Mill on the Willamette River in Oregon City. It closed in 2011 and is slated for mixed-use redevelopment. James (Cam Gigandet) hunts a security guard (Bryce Flint-Sommerville) through the maze of structures in the film's darkest chase.
Carver Café
The Carver Café is a small old-school diner in Damascus, Oregon, southeast of Portland, with wood-paneled walls and a chalkboard welcome sign. Bella and Charlie share a meal, and waitress Cora (Ayanna Berkshire) brings Bella a garden burger with fries. Fans still come in to eat.
Thunderbird and Whale Bookstore
The Thunderbird and Whale Bookstore is a building in downtown St. Helens, Oregon. Bella leaves with the book on Quileute legends she came for. St. Helens was founded in 1845 as "Plymouth" and renamed in 1850 for its view of Mount St. Helens.
Petit Jolie
Petit Jolie is Cuts Plus, a working hair salon in St. Helens. Bella, Jessica and Angela Weber (Christian Serratos) shop for prom dresses in Port Angeles. Bella actually wants to find that bookstore.
The Bloated Toad
The Bloated Toad is a restaurant stand-in in downtown St. Helens. Jessica and Angela walk out as Bella and Edward walk in for their dinner date, and the two pairs pass each other at the door.
Port Angeles parking lot
The Port Angeles parking lot is an ordinary lot in downtown St. Helens. After leaving the bookstore, Bella is confronted by a group of men, and the scene builds suspense as she realizes the danger. It is a public lot.
Forks arrival in Vernonia
Forks on screen is a road through Vernonia, Oregon, a former timber town in a valley of the Northern Oregon Coast Range. Charlie drives Bella into town for the first time, and the overcast streets capture her mixed emotions.
Forks Police Station
The Forks Police Station is the Wauna Credit Union in Vernonia. Bella and Edward arrive to flashing emergency lights, and Carlisle tells her that Waylon Forge (Ned Bellamy) has been found dead, apparently killed by an animal. It is a working business, so stay outside.
Waylon's Boat Marina
Waylon's Boat Marina is Kadow's Marina, north of Vancouver, Washington, on the Columbia River behind Caterpillar Island. It sits near floating homes and a wildlife refuge, with a cottonwood-lined beach about 1.6 kilometers (1 mile) long. Waylon sips scotch on his boat until Laurent (Edi Gathegi), Victoria (Rachelle Lefevre) and James arrive, with deadly results.
Arizona Hotel
The Arizona Hotel is the Hyatt Regency Valencia in Santa Clarita, California, a working hotel. Alice (Ashley Greene) and Jasper (Jackson Rathbone) bring Bella here to hide her from James in Phoenix.
Bella's home in Phoenix
Bella's Home in Phoenix is a quiet suburban street of family homes in Santa Clarita. Bella, seventeen, leaves for the airport with her mother Renée (Sarah Clarke) and Phil Dwyer (Matt Bushell) to move to Forks and live with Charlie.
